Vamos Guatemala Summer 2012
From June 9th-22nd, I was in Guatemala. I was selected to lead an amazing group of medical students to the country of Guatemala to provide medical care to a population surrounding an all girls catholic orphanage. We opened a clinic inside a church for two days, and also provided physicals for the young ladies of the orphanage. We also had the opportunity to shadow at an HIV/AIDS clinic in Guatemala City. I am currently collecting sun-block and sunglasses for a preventative health program that I just designed and is set to be implemented in December 2012. If you would like to contribute to this cause please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Camp for All Spring 2010 College Station, Tx
My friends and I volunteered at a camp for special needs children in the spring of 2010. We all started the day by serving them breakfast and cleaning up the mess hall. We were also able to lead their horses during the horseback riding activity through off road trails and spend quality time with them. #eyeopening
Migrant Farm Camp Mission - SMDEP Summer 2009 Washington State
As part of the Summer Medical and Dental Education Program in 2009, I had the opportunity to volunteer at a migrant farm camp in Washington state. The experience was amazing. I mostly spent time with children playing soccer, picking cherries, teaching to write and working as a spanish interpreter.
Big Event Spring 2009 & 2010 Texas A&M University
My friends and I participated in Big Event together almost every year. We usually ended up raking up leaves, planting gardens, painting window sills and things of that nature. Big Event is the largest Student Run Community Service Project in the nation and is put on by the students of Texas A&M University. Whoop! Gig 'em!
